Job Title: Senior Manager – DevOps / DevSecOps Engineering
Location: Pune, India
Department: Cloud & Platform Engineering
Reports To: Director / VP of CloudOps or Platform Engineering
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Manager of DevOps and DevSecOps Engineering to lead a team that designs, automates, and secures cloud infrastructure and CI/CD platforms supporting large-scale applications and microservices across Azure and GCP.
This is a strategic and technical leadership role — responsible for planning, governance, cost optimization, and driving AI-enabled DevOps transformation. The manager will not code daily but must be deeply conversant in cloud architecture, automation frameworks, and DevSecOps best practices.
The ideal candidate combines systems thinking, solution orientation, and stakeholder influence with enthusiasm for applying AI and automation to accelerate delivery, reliability, and compliance.
Job Roles and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Planning
- Lead, mentor, and scale a DevOps / DevSecOps team delivering secure, automated infrastructure and release solutions.
- Define the DevOps strategy and roadmap aligned with business outcomes — automation, velocity, reliability, and governance.
- Drive quarterly planning and resource alignment with cross-functional engineering and product leaders.
- Build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement with strong technical ownership.
Cloud Infrastructure & Automation
- Oversee cloud provisioning and environment management across Azure and GCP using Terraform, Ansible, and policy-as-code.
- Standardize multi-cloud architectures for network, compute, identity, and security, ensuring scalability and compliance.
- Drive infrastructure automation that reduces toil while empowering application teams to deploy and manage their own environments safely.
CI/CD & Application Delivery
- Define and maintain enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD) supporting containerized microservices.
- Partner with application teams to optimize build, test, and deployment processes with metrics-driven improvements (MTTD, MTTR, Change Success Rate).
- Integrate release governance, rollback, and validation policies to ensure predictable, auditable deployments.
DevSecOps & Compliance
- Embed security into every stage of development — vulnerability scanning, secret management, image signing, and dependency checks.
- Collaborate with Security and Compliance to uphold FedRAMP, FIPS, PCI, CIS, and ISO standards.
- Automate compliance evidence collection and implement secure-by-default IaC patterns.
AI-Driven and Preventive Operations
- Champion AI and machine learning adoption in DevOps — for predictive alerting, automated remediation, and intelligent pipeline optimization.
- Explore AI-Ops tools to analyze patterns, forecast issues, and continuously enhance service reliability.
- Encourage experimentation with AI-based coding assistants, testing automation, and infrastructure recommendation engines.
Stakeholder Engagement & Systems Thinking
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Security, and Operations to align delivery pipelines with business priorities.
- Apply systems thinking to connect services, data flows, and dependencies across the ecosystem.
- Translate complex technical strategies into business value statements for executive and non-technical audiences.
Influence architecture and product decisions to improve performance, scalability, and developer experience.
Skills and Behavior
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years in Cloud, DevOps, or Platform Engineering, with 3–5 years leading DevOps / DevSecOps teams.
- Strong technical foundation in Azure and GCP, including networking, identity, storage, and security services.
- Deep understanding of IaC (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD frameworks (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD).
- Experience supporting microservices, containers (Kubernetes, AKS, GKE), and API-based applications.
- Proven success implementing governance, cost optimization, and security automation at scale.
- Exposure to AI-Ops, observability, and proactive reliability engineering tools.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication — able to translate technical concepts into strategic insight.
Leadership Behaviours
- Strategic Vision: Plans ahead with clarity, aligning technology with business value.
- Technical Depth: Understands architecture enough to guide without micro-managing.
- AI Curiosity: Seeks innovative ways to leverage AI for efficiency and insight.
- Systems Thinking: Sees connections between teams, platforms, and outcomes.
- Collaborative Leadership: Builds trust and alignment across cross-functional stakeholders.
- Operational Discipline: Balances speed with governance and security.
- Empowerment: Develops engineers into self-reliant problem-solvers and strategic thinkers.
