About You
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer with 12+ years of experience in Unified Communications (UC) / Contact Center (CC) solutions to join our Devices project team. The Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of endpoints through thorough and end-to-end testing of desk phones (SIP, H.323, and Digital) and video endpoints. The role involves hands-on testing of UC/CC features, deep troubleshooting skills, device interoperability, and end-user experience ensuring seamless endpoints functionality. It involves continuous improvement of QA processes and close collaboration with developers, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver a high-quality outcome.
As a QA Engineer, you will
Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and scripts for endpoints - desk phones, video endpoints, headsets, etc.
Test SIP, H.323, and Digital phones for core functionalities: call setup/teardown, conferencing, voicemail, call transfer, call forwarding, directory integration, and presence
Validate endpoint provisioning, firmware upgrades, and configuration on Avaya Aura, IP Office and third-party servers
Conduct interoperability testing across Avaya and third-party endpoints and collaboration tools (Teams, Google Meet, etc.)
Perform functional, regression, and network resiliency testing. Measure audio/video quality (MOS, jitter, latency, packet loss) and troubleshoot QoS-related issues
Analyze SIP traces, H.323 logs, and packet captures (Wireshark or similar tools) to resolve defects
Provide end-user experience feedback for usability and reliability improvements
About the Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Hands-on experience with Avaya endpoints (J Series, 9600 series, One-X, Avaya Workplace) or similar
Familiarity with VoIP protocols and codecs (SIP, RTP, SRTP, G.711, G.729, Opus, H.264).
Strong troubleshooting skills using tools like Wireshark, SIPp, or equivalent UC traffic generators
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with automation frameworks for endpoint testing (Python, Selenium, or UC-specific tools)
Experience with one or more cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Avaya Experience Platform, etc.)
Familiarity with cloud/hybrid UC deployments (e.g. Avaya Cloud Office, Teams Phone)
Exposure to performance/load testing for endpoints and softphones.
Understanding of security standards (TLS, SRTP, certificate management)
