Job Duties

Avaya Inc. seeks a Sales Support Engineer III to serve as a technical sales consulting engineer. Leverage technical background to support technical sales of the Avaya portfolio. Provide technical support to current and future customer evaluation platforms, including Avaya briefing centers, Demo Avaya, and Amazon cloud. Display an understanding of the functionality and usage of Avaya Aura, Avaya Equinox, Avaya Oceana, and vertical solutions in healthcare, public safety, hospitality, and banking to support customers. Provide support for medium to highly complex installations, configurations, upgrades and migrations, and independently determine and develop approaches to solving advanced problems. Analyze symptoms, logs, and data required to resolve customer issues. Maintain a proactive approach to daily monitoring of platform health and respond to and resolve customer tickets in a timely manner.  Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), implement tools to drive efficiency and manage multiple projects. Serve as a sales support engineer. Design and define system requirements for an integrated hardware/software system. Design and present complex multi-vendor cross-portfolio solution configurations. Act as a mentor to Sales Engineers. Act as a company spokesperson within the industry through external participation at trade shows, consortiums, and speaking/writing engagements. Lead internal projects across the enterprise. Telecommuting Permitted.

Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience in a Software Engineer or Systems Engineer role, or a bachelor’s degree in the above and seven (7) years of specified experience. Requires 3 years’ experience in: programming languages, including C, C++, Java, and Assembly; Operating systems, including CentOS, Linux, Windows, Android, and RTOS (Real Time Operating System); TCP/IP, SIP, H.323, and WebRTC protocols; APIs in the development of applications, including REST and MAPI (Messaging Application Programming Interface); and 3-tier application architecture utilizing PostgreSQL database technology.
