Job Duties

Avaya Inc. seeks a IT Operations Analyst III at our office location in Thornton, CO to Architect Data/Voice communication networks such as LAN, WAN, and WIFI. Design and implement strong network security architectural approaches, such as defining security segmentations, including DMZ. Participate in network design process and perform network build implementations utilizing proper security controls. Establish network security standards, implement and troubleshoot next-generation firewalls, persistent threat protection, mitigate malware and cyber security attacks. Deploy, configure, and support network infrastructure equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points from multiple product vendors, such as Avaya, Extreme-networks, Cisco, Juniper, Pulse Secure, Palo Alto, Zscaler, and Velocloud. Collaborate with other software/application and hardware department teams, such as R&D and Avaya Professional Services, to understand business requirements and design and implement effective solutions. Provide tier-4 support and troubleshoot escalated complex problems with many variables in a fast-paced manner. Evaluate latest network technologies and products by building proof of concepts (PoCs) and providing recommendations for global deployment. Administer, upgrade, and perform scheduled maintenance for telecommunications networks, perform technical analyses of network hardware, software, virtual machines and transmission systems for data, voice and video communications. Propose and document network and security appliance design and configuration standards to be used by other network engineers and operations staff.  Participate in team activities involving network security best practices, develop road map for security strategies to mitigate identified information security risks, security breaches, and protect Avaya's intellectual property from ongoing and emerging threats. Perform periodic vulnerability assessments and implement adequate network security measures, enhancements and innovative cyber security capabilities including SSL inspection programs. Work on a broad range of network protocols, including OSPF, BGP, SPB (shortest path bridging), STP, MSTP, MLT (Multi Link Trunk), 802.1Q, 802.1X, 802.11, Radius and multiple technologies, including MPLS, IPsec, SD-WAN, VPN, VXLAN and NAC. Telecommuting permitted.

Minimum Requirements

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related field of study and five (5) years of experience is required. Alternatively, the company would accept a Master’s degree in the related fields of study and two (2) years of experience. Experience must include one (1) year of experience in the following: IP networking technologies, including OSI Model, TCP/UDP/IP suite protocols, including DHCP, DNS, and ARP, server client communication, bandwidth structuring and QoS; designing and building functional communication networks, including LAN and WAN; routing protocols, including OSPF, BGP etc. and switching protocols, including STP, 802.1d, LACP; network security, including Network security protocols, including IPsec VPN, SSL VPN, NAT, 802.1x, and technologies including intrusion prevention, vulnerability detection, and malware analysis; wireless LAN, 802.11 protocols, Wi-Fi spectrum analysis, and wireless security; configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, web proxy; IP packet analysis using Wireshark; troubleshooting network and network security problems; and design documentation using Microsoft Visio.
