Job Description

Role Summary:  Manages team of Federal Certification Engineers and is responsible for all DoD APL certification activities at the JITC, Ft. Huachuca, AZ.  Provides input to policy level direction regarding APL certifications and product readiness per DoD requirements.   Assigns personnel to projects and test events and directs their activities.  Advises product teams and other stakeholders on DoD UC APL requirements across a wide range of products.   Plans, directs, advises and conducts regular, special and integrated system test programs at the JITC, Ft. Huachuca, AZ.   Plans, prepares and conducts on-the-job training as required in support of the foregoing activities.  Has wide-ranging experience with DoD UC APL testing process, STIGS and UCR requirements across a wide range of product sets.  Networks with key contacts to further company objectives.   Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel.

 

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

• Manages all DoD UC APL Certification testing efforts at Ft. Huachuca, AZ and other authorized DISA testing centers
o Plans and prepares all APL certification efforts, including preparation of submission paperwork, pre-testing and test execution
o Manages the APL IO testing process through every step until APL Listing, including IO TDR’s and POAMs, IO Outbriefs, vendor calls and final APL certification documentation
o Applies expert knowledge of APL testing and product set expertise by communicating directly with product teams to determine mitigation responses and POAM timeframes
• Manages team of certification engineers executing APL certification testing at Ft. Huachuca
o Assigns personnel to various tasks and testing events as required
o Advises team on various strategies and tactics relevant to APL testing
o Provides on the job training to new personnel
• Works directly with product development teams on a daily basis to:
o provide advice and information regarding DoD requirements for security and interoperability and influence product direction
o execute DoD Letters of Compliance templates with development teams

 

Specific Role Requirements:  The role requires an expert knowledge of the following competencies:

• Knowledge of DISA UCR (Unified Capabilities Requirements) requirements and applicability to various VVoIP platforms
• Knowledge and experience with DoD IA and IO APL testing procedures and methodologies
• Knowledge and experience with DoD UC APL Process and guidelines
• Ability to execute and analyze security scans such as Nessus, Retina, SCAP and NMap
• Complete understanding of VVoIP in a DoD environment to include:  AS-SIP, SIP, H.323, voice and video codecs and other DoD specific concepts such as MLPP and ASAC
• Knowledge of Data LAN Networking including IPv4/IPv6 routing, switching, subnetting, QoS  and other networking concepts
• Red Hat Linux 5/6/7 and Windows 10 OS’s
• Ability to function in a high stress and challenging environment, defuse tense situations in the testing lab

 

Experience/Education:
Bachelors degree +5 years of relevant experience working in a DoD environment incorporating the above skills
