Avaya is looking for a talented and motivated attorney to support the business teams working in Avaya’s Solutions and Technology group.   The attorney will be an integral part of the business and will need to be comfortable providing counsel directly to business leadership both on legal and business issues.

Specific responsibilities will include supporting global launches of new offers, including cloud, identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies, negotiation of strategic partnership agreements and technology licensing agreements, negotiation of out-bound and in-bound commercial agreements, regulatory and contractual compliance (including privacy and data security) with respect to new Avaya cloud solutions and product and technology roadmaps.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. The ability to collaborate cross-functionally within Avaya (including engineering, finance, tax, and other support teams) and drive successful business results is critical. Other responsibilities include review and drafting of Avaya’s standard contracts, internal and intra-departmental training and supporting commercial aspects of M&A due diligence and integration efforts.

The successful candidate will be able to prioritize appropriately, maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and have the ability to work well with people at all levels inside and outside Avaya.



· Juris Doctor and membership in good standing of at least one state bar
· 10+ years of legal experience
· Experience with IP licensing, cloud and other technology transactions
· Experience with data security, privacy issues and telecom regulatory environment

The preferred location is at Avaya’s Corporate Headquarter in Santa Clara, CA but applicants outside that area will also be considered. Compensation is based on experience.
