ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Creative & Editorial Director helps lead the aesthetic and design direction of the Avaya brand, digital experiences, events and campaign initiatives. Our ideal candidate is a top-notch visual and verbal storyteller who will oversee the creation of original short to long-form content that amplifies the Avaya brand and the value of our customer experience and workstream collaboration solutions. You will take the lead in creating engaging, high-value videos, podcasts, blogs, infographics, and other new media content with our brand, digital, solutions and communication marketing teams. You can think big-picture content strategy, while enthusiastically diving into the details of the execution when needed.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conceive, design and lead the development of high quality creative and copywriting that pushes the Avaya brand forward.
  • Implement concepts, guidelines and strategies in various creative projects and oversee them to completion.
  • Lead brainstorming/creative sessions to generate ideas.
  • Write and design unique and well-crafted copy in Avaya’s brand voice.
  • Determine opportunities for new content partnerships that drive audience growth.
  • Review and revise content, approve/reject ideas, provide feedback to the team.
  • Interact with cross-functional teams as well as with senior marketers.
  • Act as mentor and motivator and encourages collaboration within the team.
  • Present the team’s work knowledgeably and professionally to a broad audience.

ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS

 

EXPERIENCE

10+ years of related experience, with 3+ years’ experience working in leadership role.

 

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
 

  • Excellent conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven, outstanding ability to deliver innovative and on-strategy ideas.
  • Ability to collaborate with writers, user experience designers, and creative technologists to develop concepts.
  • Excellent ability to art direct videographers, photographers and illustrators as necessary.
  • A deep understanding of how to optimize content for websites, apps, and newsletters.
  • Excellent leadership skills: keeps a level head, solves problems, motivates the team, and engenders confidence that the assignment is entirely in control.

REQUIREMENTS (Cont.)

  • Experience in advertising, marketing, corporate identity, brand management, and marketing campaigns.
  • Expertise in developing creative solutions in a variety of campaigns, across a broad range of problems and media, including digital advertising, graphic design, Corporate ID, video, interactive, and collateral.
  • Good at presenting and “selling” the worth of creative ideas.
  • Skillful at managing agency relationships.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent skills with design software used in the design process, including, but not limited to, Photoshop and Illustrator. Premiere and/or After Effects experience a plus.
  • Portfolio of original and breakthrough work, with a focus on user-centered design.

 

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
 

BA or BFA in Graphic Design or other related design discipline, with a minimum 10 years relevant (preferably agency) experience specializing in integrated campaigns and visual design for digital media.

Education

Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
Master Degree is preferred
