Short Description

Avaya is seeking an experienced Tier-3 Linux (RHEL/OEL) and DC infrastructure support engineer. The virtualization and systems support engineer is part of a global team that deploys, maintains, and supports Linux/virtualization technology and DC infrastructure. The support engineer will be part of a 24x7 support staff team. The support engineer’s primary role is providing Tier-2/3 support to Avaya data centers.  In addition to the support role, the engineer will monitor and perform routine maintenance of data center infrastructure systems, assist with staging and pre-production deployments on the infrastructure, assist with the monitoring and maintaining of security systems, and assist senior-level DC infrastructure engineers and architects.


Candidate must have 6-8 years solid hands-on experience on following

  • Linux RHEL/OEL/Solaris Administration/ Linux LVM
  • Shell scripting experience – Bash/Korn shell scripts to monitor system resources 
  • Exposure to configuration management and automation tools like – Ansible, Windows PowerShell
  • vCenter/ESXi 6.5 and above
  • Must have working knowledge of Azure/AWS clouds.
  • RHEL certified



Apply excellent troubleshooting and problem analysis skills to provide solutions for problems that can occur in a complex environment.  Troubleshoot, problem solve, and communicate effectively on customer conference calls.  Work effectively in-service impacting situations that are difficult for the customer.  Escalate to Avaya Tier-3/4 technical support as appropriate.

  • Accurately identify and isolate root cause issues in a complex cloud service, including issues impacting the cloud service but have a root cause in 3rd party IaaS provider systems, external networks, or customer systems which Avaya does not control.   Escalate to 3rd party IaaS provider technical support, coordinate, and manage 3rd party technical support during support incidents with 3rd party IaaS providers.
  • Work in a security compliant (HIPAA and PCI-DSS), multi-tenant service provider environment, following ITIL-based process and procedures.  Utilize common ITSM tools (primarily HPSM/Service Now) as part of process and procedures. 
  • Monitor and perform routine maintenance tasks on VMware technologies, the underlying DC infrastructure, and IT systems providing shared services (Windows and Linux based), monitoring and security systems.
  • Deploy solutions on VMware technologies and perform configurations on DC infrastructure and IT systems, as part of projects guided by senior-level engineers/architects and typically within staging and pre-production environments.
  • Assist with solution documentation as needed, guided by senior-level engineers/architects.
  • Perform routine software updates and patches on Linux operating systems.
  • Maintain, monitor, and operate solutions required for business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Must be open to work in defined shifts to provide 24x7 coverage
