Job Information

Job Code: 00194006

Job Family: Research and Development

Job Function: Software Engineering

About The Role

As a DevOps Release Manager, you will own end-to-end software release planning, coordination, and delivery across cloud and customer environments. In this role, you protect when and how work is released—not what ships—working primarily through Jenkins, Microsoft Azure, and the Operations Portal. You will partner daily with the US/North America-based Release Manager to ensure seamless, round-the-clock release management.

What You’ll Do

  • Release Planning & Ownership: Own the multi-stream release calendar, preventing schedule collisions and managing Mid/End-Cycle and Service Pack releases (scope freeze, readiness reviews, communications).
  • Hotfix Execution: Lead rapid hotfix intake and delivery without disrupting the planned release train.
  • Tooling & Audit: Execute releases via Jenkins, Azure, and the Operations Portal, maintaining complete audit trails.
  • Standards Enforcement: Define and enforce change windows, freeze periods, rollback plans, and post-release verification.
  • Readiness & Gating: Confirm release readiness (including QA Ready evidence). Recommend release delays when risk is unacceptable (Product Manager holds final Go/No-Go authority).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain clean handoffs with the stateside Release Manager. Partner closely with CloudOps, Support, Product, Engineering, QA, and Security teams.
  • Continuous Improvement: Improve CI/CD release automation, runbooks, and documentation—leveraging AI tools to accelerate workflows while maintaining human judgment.

How You’ll Work

  • Individual Contributor: Direct focus on coordination and execution with no people management duties.
  • Follow-the-Sun Support: Paired with a stateside Release Manager to maintain near 24-hour coverage.
  • Cross-Functional Orchestrator: Coordinates delivery across Product Managers, Delivery Leads, Tech Leads, CloudOps, Support, QA, and Security without directly managing the development teams.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience: Strong background in DevOps, release management, or engineering operations managing multi-stream release calendars (cycles, service packs, hotfixes).
  • Time Zone Flexibility: Comfort working overlapping Pune/North America time zones and supporting releases outside standard local business hours.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Jenkins (pipeline-as-code, promotion/gating) and controlled rollout/deployment tooling.
  • CI/CD & Risk Judgment: Solid understanding of versioning, CI/CD pipelines, and rollback strategies.
  • Communication & AI: Strong written and verbal communication for asynchronous team handoffs, and comfort using AI-assisted productivity tools (e.g., Cursor).
  • Experience with enterprise communications or high-availability software platforms (e.g., Avaya or similar contact-center/UC platforms) - (Nice to have)
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM), Azure Monitor, ITIL/CAB experience.
  • Scripting capability in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

What Success Looks Like

  • Collision-Free Cadence: Mid/End-Cycle and Service Pack release trains remain consistently on schedule.
  • Rapid Remediation: Urgent hotfixes ship rapidly without breaking planned release trains.
  • Seamless Handoffs: Asynchronous handoffs between India and US teams remain low-friction and timely.
  • Low Risk: Deployments are auditable, low-risk, and well-communicated to operations and support teams.
