Job Description

Avaya is seeking a results-driven Purchasing and Planning Senior Manager to lead a multi-regional team of planners and buyers supporting global hardware and third-party software procurement. This leader will play a critical role in revenue enablement, expense management, inventory alignment, and supplier performance within a dynamic, high-tech manufacturing environment.

 

This role manages a globally diverse team of 11 professionals, including four manager-level associates, and is accountable for ensuring supply continuity, cost optimization, and operational excellence in support of approximately $140M in annual hardware revenue.

 

The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with deep expertise in procurement, demand planning, Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), and supplier management in a business-to-business (B2B) environment.

Key Responsibilities

 

As a Purchasing and Planning Senior Manager, you will

 

  • Lead and develop a globally multicultural team of planners and buyers, fostering accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee demand forecasting, procurement planning, and supply execution to support $140M in annual hardware revenue
  • Ensure inventory purchases and supply plans are tightly aligned with the sales forecast and revenue commitments
  • Manage critical expense plans, including:
    • Hardware Excess & Obsolescence (E&O) plan of $3.2M
    • Inbound logistics strategy maintaining 80%+ surface transportation mix
    • Air freight expense plan targeting $1.6M
  • Drive cost management initiatives and deliver measurable cost reduction outcomes
  • Provide regional supplier leadership for key North American suppliers (including Avnet and Keytronic), representing approximately 20% of hardware purchases
  • Lead procurement and sourcing activities across hardware and third-party software categories
  • Champion S&OP processes to ensure cross-functional alignment between Sales, Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain
  • Develop and implement process improvements that enhance forecast accuracy, supply reliability, and operational efficiency
  • Establish performance metrics and reporting to ensure visibility, accountability, and data-driven decision making
  • Partner cross-functionally to mitigate supply risk, optimize working capital, and improve service levels

 

Requirements

 

  • 10+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, purchasing, or planning roles
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience, including managing global or multi-regional teams
  • Experience in high-tech manufacturing and B2B environments
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Procurement and sourcing (hardware and software preferred)
    • Demand planning and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)
    • Supplier relationship and performance management
  • Proven track record of:
    • Delivering measurable results against revenue and cost targets
    • Leading cost reduction and expense management initiatives
    • Driving process improvement and operational transformation
    • Developing and advancing high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including inventory management and working capital optimization
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience managing global contract manufacturers and value-added resellers
  • Background in logistics optimization and freight cost management
  • Advanced degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field

 

The pay range for this opportunity is from $140,000 to $150,000 + performance-related bonus + benefits. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive an annual bonus that aligns with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies.
