Job Description
📍 Location: Norfolk, VA (with global travel opportunities)
✈ Travel: ~30-40%

Are you a creative, customer-focused Telecommunications Engineer with a passion for solving complex challenges in a fast-paced environment? Do you have experience working across electrical, software, and mechanical engineering disciplines while supporting mission-critical shipboard telecommunications systems? If so, we want to hear from you!
What You'll Do:
✅ Lead & Design: Spearhead the technical design of Avaya Communication Manager (CM) systems for shipboard integrated communication solutions.
✅ Integrate & Innovate: Work with multi-vendor technologies and lead complex system integrations, ensuring seamless interoperability.
✅ Solve & Support: Provide direction and resolution for diverse technical challenges, including:
- Telephony
- Messaging
- Conferencing
- Networking
✅ Test & Validate: Oversee environmental testing to meet MIL-Standards for shock, vibration, EMI, temperature, humidity, and airborne noise.
✅ Deploy & Maintain: Perform on-site installation, maintenance, and repair of shipboard systems—including hardware, software, networking products, and operating systems.
✅ Document & Optimize: Develop engineering drawings for new and upgraded system designs, ruggedized products, and kits of parts.
What You Bring:
✔ Hands-on experience with servers, switches, and routing
✔ Knowledge or experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., Red Hat, VMware, Windows)
✔ Understanding of MIL-standards and shipboard requirements
✔ Strong project management skills—including outsourcing, funding evaluation, and change management
✔ Ability to work in rugged environments (extreme temperatures, lifting up to 100 lbs)
