About the Opportunity

Sales Engineer (SE) is responsible for aiding the sales executive in the successful attainment of revenue objectives by providing technical expertise throughout the sales process. The engineer will help the sales executive with the identification and assessment of opportunities, the demonstration and design of Avaya’s entire portfolio of services and solutions, and discover the communication needs of medium to large enterprises in a specific geographic region, specific industry sector, or specific customers.
This role provides presence to the customer as the Avaya technical expert, working closely with the business partner resources, or direct sales resources to fulfill customer needs on behalf of Avaya.

About the Responsibilities

Sales Engineer Role is distinguished from other sales roles by providing technical expertise in the broad portfolio of Avaya products. The ability to articulate and demonstrate the products’ abilities to solve business problems for our customers is critical. The role requires a significant level of activity management including:

  • Customer calls and appointments
  • Creation of proposals, customer RFI’s, and Business Partner RFP support 
  • Accurate and timely system design 
  • Knowledge transfer to customers, partners and peers
  • Demonstrations and presentations

•    The Sales Engineer position requires an exceptional ability to translate customer needs into viable and convincing solutions, often in intensely competitive environments.
•    The SE is increasingly mastering a confident balance between deep technical expertise across multiple products and strong interpersonal selling and consultative skills.
•    The SE is able to design, demonstrate, present and integrate Avaya’s product and service capabilities with the customer’s needs, overcoming objections and competitive threats.
•    Due to technical depth and experience with a customer’s IT infrastructure and the capabilities and constraints of Avaya’s products, is able to design solutions that result in high customer satisfaction with minimal postsales support issues.
•    The SE is often considered a very strong local generalist, as well as an expert in a specific subset of Avaya’s and competitors product capabilities. SE may mentor less experienced SE’s. 

About the Requirements

  • Education: Typically requires high education –University degree in telecommunications or computer sciences or equivalent. 
  • Industry Certifications: Multiple industry and vendor certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco or Genesys. 
  • Experience: Experience 4+ years-related experience. Avaya product experience and/or relevant experience with competitor or ISV offerings in solution area are preferred.
  • Strong track record of sales engineering or consulting in general business or specific industries in sales support, solutions planning, Implementation and Operational background is required. 
  • Good presentation skill.
  • Fluent English.
