Job Information

  • Under limited direction, the Pension and Retiree Medical Manager owns all functions related to company-sponsored pension and retiree medical plans specifically, defined benefit plans, qualified and non-qualified and retiree medical programs.  Needs to be familiar with U.S. compliance regulations.

    Principal activities include extensive project management of day-to-day processes within administration and recordkeeping activities for defined benefit programs including regulatory compliance, benefit calculations assistance, and participant communications.  Risk plan activities provide guidance for outsourced pension provider, plan changes, special projects, research and guidance for overall plan administration.

Duties

Pension plan administration in HRIS and vendor systems to ensure accurate participant processing. This includes continual monitoring of programs for legal compliance impacts and payments. Work is in conjunction with outside plan record-keeper and auditors.

Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) administration with third-party vendor to ensure accounts are set up properly and updated when participant becomes Medicare eligible.

Process provider reports and prepare audit reconciliation for internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Project management of annual external audits performed on retirement plans. Coordinates flow of requested information between third-party administrators, finance and Treasury; establish plan provisions as well as develop necessary internal controls as required.

Acts as point of service/gatekeeper within current administration process with employees, retirees and financial institutions to resolve issues.

Coordinates outsourcing activities including problem-solving for participant issues.

Accountable for the documentation of compliance issues for retirement programs including plan documents, plan amendments, summary plan descriptions participant notices, reporting and forms.

Works with outside counsel and vendors to analyze impact of new regulations and implements required changes, makes recommendations to fiduciary committees and management.

Provides support and project management in annual preparation of required government reports including Form 5500’s, filings, etc. for all areas of benefits.

Updates procedural documentation for fiduciary committees and in partnership with providers

Directs providers and handles communication with participants including email, telephone and mailings.

Expected to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities. Develop communications for defined benefit plan initiatives.

Drive agenda items for applicable fiduciary committees and execute on committee directions

Performs other related duties and projects, as assigned by supervisor.

Handles confidential information in a professional manner.

 

Qualifications

Excellent Project Management skills

Strong computer skills in MS Office, email and HRIS applications,

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Math, Accounting or Finance
Knowledge and proficiency of ERISA, DOL, and IRS regulations including recent legislation
Work in a team-oriented environment under minimal supervision
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong independent thinking and problem resolution skills
Strong analytical skills
Experience working within a Human Resource department in a business environment
Previous experience working in an industrial service or manufacturing organization
Previous experience in successfully interacting with benefit vendors

Education

Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
