ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an integral role, with the key focus on ownership of all US indirect tax matters, including S&U, property taxes, and regulatory taxes.

 

Core responsibilities:

  • Lead all US indirect tax matters (including: compliance, documentation, audit defense, & reserve analysis).
  • Prime focus on US S&U, with responsibility for US property taxes and US Federal & State Regulatory Taxes.
  • Manage outsourced US indirect tax compliance process and coordinate review & filing of all indirect tax returns.
  • Develop, maintain, implement and improve processes, policies and guidelines to manage indirect tax risks & compliance.
  • Lead/manage all S&U tax audits, including managing relationship with tax auditors and provision of data.
  • Management of the indirect tax exemption certificate processes (work undertaken by Avaya Customer Master Data team).
  • Providing business support on indirect tax matters (e.g. new commercial structures, taxation of new offerings, customer/supplier queries).
  • Manage the Company’s S&U reconciliations and indirect tax reserve analysis on a quarterly basis.
  • Approval of payments related to indirect tax filings.
  • Support indirect tax technology changes (including Vertex).
  • Day to day management of indirect senior.
  • Manage use of external advisors.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, demonstrate sound judgment and have the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with people at all levels inside and outside Avaya.

  • Proven ability to prioritize, problem solve, make recommendations and implement solutions
  • US S&U/indirect taxes practical and technical tax expertise (7-10+ years of experience preferred)
  • Experience with automation of indirect tax processes (preferred)
  • US Telecoms Regulatory Tax experience (preferred)
  • International indirect tax exposure (preferred)
  • College degree in Finance/Accounting related discipline (preferred)
  • Experience with Vertex & SAP (preferred)

COMPENSATION

The pay range for this opportunity is from $133,400 to $180,050 + performance-related bonus + benefits

This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive an annual bonus that aligns with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and location.
