ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Avaya Tax Department seeks a highly motivated and qualified tax professional to join the team. This individual will report to the Senior Manager of Tax Reporting and will primarily be responsible for a wide variety of US GAAP tax reporting matters. In addition, the role will provide support for US tax compliance matters and assist with a variety of ongoing and one-off projects and tasks.

As a truly global group operating in a fast paced business environment, the successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic, enjoy working hard and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. The ability to collaborate cross-functionally within Avaya and drive successful business results will also be important.

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation of core US GAAP tax provision (Quarters and Year End), and related journal entries
  • Review of global tax provisions
  • Analysis and documentation of complex US GAAP tax reporting matters, such as Uncertain Tax positions and Valuation Allowances
  • Ownership of federal US GAAP tax workpapers; development of Quarterly AETR
  • Preparation and review of global 10-Q/10-K support documentation
  • Co-ordination of information requests
  • Utilization of analytics and ‘risk based’ approach to improve efficiency of US GAAP tax reporting and provide tax accounting insights to senior management
  • Use of tax technology and implementation of US GAAP reporting process improvements
  • Responsible for design, implementation and documentation of SOX controls
  • Development of strong working relationships with Avaya finance, treasury & legal functions, and external auditors
  • Assistance with US tax compliance
  • Support ongoing tax projects and tasks, such as tax audits, tax credits and incentives, uncertain tax positions, tax research, transfer pricing, etc
  • Support business & corporate initiatives, such as acquisitions, refinancing, restructurings etc.

ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS

 

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Self-starter with a proactive approach
  • Ability to manage several workstreams/projects at the same time
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Knowledge of SAP, HFM, CorpTax and Alteryx a plus.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Minimal travel required
  • Flexible working arrangements possible

 

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business; Masters in Tax and/or CPA a plus
  • 4+ years relevant tax experience
  • Industry and/or ‘Big Four’ experience
