Short Description

Reporting to the VP of Tax, the Senior Director will be responsible to develop and manage the Company’s tax position, implement provisions of the new U.S. federal tax law, coordinate with the Director of International Tax, monitor tax legislation and supervise tax research performed by team members.

Directs and guides the formulation and execution of macro tax strategies, long and short term business plans and policies, and the development of aggressive methodologies to ensure consistency and defensibility of tax positions within the enterprise while minimizing the corporation's tax exposures and tax liability. Directs the analysis of and interpretation of new/existing tax laws, case law and rulings; oversees the development of impact and the initiation of tax recommendations and policy changes; directs tax compliance activities which minimize potential tax assessments and penalties; directs financial analysis, forecasting, and provision or all relevant tax information and written analytical summaries as required to Investor Relations, the Annual Report, Corporate Finance, Avaya Senior Management, and other internal/external reporting. Has multi-functional and/or global responsibility. Identifies complex issues and implements strategies to resolve issues. Uses innovative thinking for analyzing and evaluating information to arrive at conclusions, make recommendations and take action that may have direct impact on revenue.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities / Performance Requirements:

  1. Formulate and implement tax positions.
  2. Manage tax research.
  3. Implement key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
  4. Monitor federal, state and local and foreign tax developments.
  5. Provide tax guidance on the implementation of new businesses.
  6. Advise and liase with the tax reporting group.

    Required Skills:

  1. Ten to twenty years of tax experience in corporate tax groups and Big 4
  2. Masters Degree in Tax or LLM.
  3. Experience in SEC reporting & SOX compliance, as well as statutory and GAAP reporting.
  4. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
