Job Description

Avaya is seeking a Technical Leader – Professional Services Architecture to serve as the senior technical authority supporting high-value customer implementations and complex solution delivery.

 

This role operates at the intersection of Sales, Engineering, and Project Delivery, ensuring that enterprise customer deployments are architected correctly, delivered efficiently, and aligned with both customer requirements and commercial objectives.

 

The Technical Leader plays a critical role in protecting revenue, accelerating deal velocity, and enabling scalable service delivery across Avaya’s Professional Services portfolio. This position provides architectural leadership, technical governance, and mentorship across delivery teams while helping translate customer needs into executable, high-quality technical solutions.

Key Skills and Qualifications

Technical Architecture & Delivery Governance

  • Serve as the technical authority for complex enterprise deployments, ensuring solution designs align with Avaya best practices and customer requirements
  • Architect and validate large-scale unified communications and contact center environments, including upgrades, migrations, and integrations
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the lifecycle to protect project delivery timelines, customer satisfaction, and contract margins
  • Establish and enforce technical quality standards across Professional Services engagements

Pre-Sales Technical Leadership

  • Partner with Sales and Solution Engineering teams to translate customer requirements into technically sound scopes of work
  • Provide rapid technical validation and architectural guidance to accelerate Professional Services quoting and deal closure
  • Support strategic accounts by presenting technical roadmaps and solution architecture to executive stakeholders

Delivery Optimization & Operational Scalability

  • Provide architectural oversight across multiple concurrent projects to ensure consistent, scalable delivery practices
  • Enable Project Managers to focus on client coordination and execution by owning the technical delivery strategy and design decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery methodologies, documentation standards, and solution templates

Technical Mentorship & Team Development

  • Mentor and coach mid-to-senior engineers, elevating technical capabilities across the organization
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide guidance on complex troubleshooting, integrations, and system optimization
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and knowledge sharing

 

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise technical delivery, unified communications, or contact center solutions
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership, architectural, or principal engineering role
  • Strong experience integrating Avaya solutions with third-party systems, APIs, and CRM platforms
  • Proven ability to design and deliver complex enterprise communication architectures
  • Demonstrated success partnering with Sales, Engineering, and Delivery teams in customer-facing environments
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, particularly in large-scale system upgrades and migrations
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management capabilities

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience establishing technical governance frameworks, architecture review processes, or CI/CD practices
  • Strong understanding of Professional Services delivery models and margin optimization
  • Experience presenting architecture and technical strategy to C-level stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
  • Deep expertise in Avaya platforms, including:
    • Avaya Aura
    • Avaya Oceana
    • Avaya OneCloud

Key Performance Indicators

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Technical Margin Preservation – Reduction in project overages caused by technical rework or architecture issues
  • Pre-Sales Lead Time – Faster technical validation and scoping for Professional Services opportunities

Delivery Scalability – Increased number of complex projects supported across the portfolio through strong technical governance and architectural oversight
