Avaya Inc. seeks a Technical Manager to oversee software development teams and coordinate software engineering activities. Provide technical leadership and knowledge of Avaya platforms and frameworks to the development and quality assurance teams. Interact with customers regarding feedback, support, and presales to manage, design, and promote advanced, next generation communication solutions, while delivering business value and differentiation to Avaya customers and partners. Promote thought leadership in innovations leveraging new Avaya technologies in agent / customer endpoints, and media solutions. Create, develop and support emerging software products, from concept development, to requirements gathering, to the design and definition of communication applications and packaged software (products) that extend the Avaya portfolio. Act as a key interface with strategic customers in complex/critical engagements. Drive the use of innovative solutions as well as new communications and software technologies by utilizing depth of expertise in several communication and emerging software engineering technologies. Serve as a source of technical expertise to others to support complex pre-sales and software application integration projects. Explain complex concepts to a variety of audiences in an understandable manner. Create formal internal and external networks. Perform work under review by management with minimal direction. Provide solutions to a diverse range of complex problems. Conduct product roadmap planning. Supervise 1 employee (Software Engineer III) (no direct reports) and up to 35 contractors (no direct reports). Local telecommuting permitted. Up to 10% of travel required.

Minimum Requirements

 

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering and five (5) years of experience in a Technical Manager role. Requires at least 3 years’ experience in: managing a team of software engineers in a product development effort; serving in a Scrum Master and Product Owner role, client-side H.323 family and Session Internet Protocols (SIP) communication protocols; Avaya Call Center Elite Solution; audio media codecs including G.711 and G.729; Victual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) software such as Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp, and VMware Horizon. Multi-platform software development using C++ on MacOS, Windows, and Linux; Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) technologies.
