About the Opportunity

Avaya is undertaking a digital business transformation of its Enterprise Business Capabilities. The digital business transformation includes operating-model changes, business process improvement, and standardization and harmonization of processes. This includes several significant transformation programs as the business continues to move from legacy processes to new platforms and commodity processes.


The Finance Business Architect is accountable for proactively leading or supporting Enterprise Architecture activities that guide business models, people, process, organizational change, and investments towards achieving targeted business outcomes. This individual is responsible for leveraging technology to enable the finance organization's future-state business capabilities, which can enable or alter business processes or practices that, in turn, drive the organization's targeted business outcomes. They are also responsible for facilitating the construction of business models, which may include business capabilities, functions and processes and organization design, as well as working collaboratively with business strategists, process owners and subject matter experts. The role focuses on business strategy and targeted business outcomes: clarifying strategic intentions, identifying business outcomes, exploring implications, impacts and risks, and addressing stakeholder questions.

About the Accountabilities

  • Engage key business stakeholders to facilitate both strategy and innovation planning
  • Collaborate with stakeholders involved in digital strategy and digital innovation to develop an IT investment roadmap
  • Solutioning of ASC 606 Change Requests and Reporting Requirements
  • Collaborate with the Finance Transformation lead to ensure delivery of best in class Enterprise Finance capabilities
  • Work with enterprise architects and key organizational stakeholders to define a strategic plan for leveraging integrated business architecture as part of the enterprise architecture
  • Participate in IT strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business innovation portfolio development
  • Define a clear plan and governance for ensuring the business architecture work is in lock step with the other EA viewpoints
  • Provide strategic consultation to assigned line-of-business customers in defining or designing business capabilities, processes, functions and organizational structures, as well as in researching, identifying and internally marketing, selling and enabling technologies based on business and end user requirements
  • Use business architecture tools and techniques such as strategy on a page, strategic planning, business model canvas, disruptions and trends, balance scorecard, economical modeling, risks and interdependencies, process models, business capability modeling, ecosystems modeling, customer and user profiling, journey maps, and human-centric design
  • Participate in enterprise architecture development, including business architecture, information architecture, application portfolio and technical architecture
  • Collaborate with other IT functional areas and LOB customer management on project progress and issues, identifying and resolving potential problems and conflicts

About the Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related discipline, or equivalent and extensive related project experience; MBA. preferred
  • Qualified or certified accountant such as CPA or similar would be beneficial but is not mandatory
  • Solid business and IT experience with a direct responsibility for strategy formulation and/or translation, business analytics, and program management
  • Experience to include some of the following: SAP ECC / S/4 (FI/CO, Treasury, SD, Tax, PTP); SAP Analytics Cloud; SAP BRIM; SAP RAR; IT Process & Controls; Waterfall & Agile Methodologies; Systems Integration; Solution Design, Delivery & Support; Team and Resource Management; Vendor Management and RFP Process; and working with Internal Auditors
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, valuation and metrics development.
  • Experience of operating in a SOX environment.
  • In-depth experience with business transformation and process redesign methods.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of facilitation and organization change management.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts and theories for a variety of projects.
  • Experience working within multidisciplined, high-performance work teams.
