About the Opportunity

Reporting to the International Tax Director, Avaya is looking for a talented and motivated European senior tax manager to work as part of the Avaya tax team and support the wider finance and business teams. The European senior tax manager will have a broad range of responsibilities (see below). The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic, enjoy being continually challenged, demonstrate sound judgment and able to collaborate cross-functionally with people at all levels inside and outside Avaya.

About the Responsibilities

  • Support on all European tax matters, including compliance with local and European tax laws
  • Tax advice in respect of and management of business led initiatives
  • Management of European tax audits in partnership with local finance colleagues and external advisors
  • Review of material European income tax returns
  • Support US GAAP tax reporting including review of quarterly and year-end tax provisions (US GAAP reporting) for certain jurisdictions, as prepared by finance colleagues
  • Review, management and documentation of uncertain tax positions
  • Support Sarbanes Oxley documentation processes for relevant transactions
  • Management of tax items relating to European acquisitions, disposals, new entity formations and liquidations
  • Engagement and management of external tax advisors
  • Provide ad-hoc tax advice on customer contracts, new product offerings, new geographic markets, including technical research and liaison with sales, finance & legal department colleagues
  • Provide ad-hoc support and advice to US HQ tax team
  • Provide ad-hoc tax support and advice to finance department colleagues

About the Requirements

  • ACCA, ACA and/or CTA qualified (or overseas equivalent)
  • Big 4 experience a plus
  • Substantial relevant tax experience, in public accounting or industry
  • Experience with corporate tax accounting (US GAAP preferable)
  • Experience with international tax matter
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Must possess strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to problem solve
  • Self-starter and ability to constructively challenge
  • Corptax and SAP experience preferable
  • Solid Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills
