About the Opportunity

We are currently extending our Enterprise Clients Engineering team (Clients branded: Spaces, Workplace & Workspaces) as we launch of our Next Generation Web Clients as a Service branded Unified Client, these will be available to Customers globally as a subscription service directly from the public and private cloud. Avaya’s Clients Engineering team is looking for a motivated and experienced Cloud Operations Manager or Enterprise Service Manager or equivalent management role to join our globally distributed team and help us deliver highly efficient, user pleasing, flexible, tailored client experiences from the cloud.  The candidate should be very organised, a great communicator, able to multi-task and capable of managing and coordinating teams to ensure continuity of highly reliable and evolving services in the cloud. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior management role working with the latest technologies based in the west of Ireland.

 

You will have overall responsibility/management for the day-to-day operations of the Unified Client Services suite, including; software deployment, system setup, system administration, monitoring, incident resolution, problem management, configuration and change management, engaging with integrators, stakeholders and service teams, security compliance/management and monitoring, capacity planning, availability management, disaster recovery and routine updates of services to the latest version. You will be central to evolving our Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud Services Operation strategies ensuring all scale, resilience, performance and costs are closely managed. You’ll play a critical role on the leadership team and lead in supporting the software development teams and processes across the Avaya suite of applications. As a leader you will establish and maintain strong relationships with business, product and technology leaders and drive them to deliver strategic platform and tooling capabilities for use by your operations team.

About the Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the planning of work for Operations teams to 24/7 support of the cloud infrastructure and effective planning of continuous improvements to the operations infrastructure
  • Building and maintaining logging, monitoring, and alerting systems to proactively identify bottlenecks and assist with debugging, analysis, and optimization
  • Generate and share comprehensive and detailed reports about Cloud operation utilisation, performance, cost, objectives and strategy (cost analysis dashboards and usage telemetry dashboards)
  • Support development teams and work with them to help operationalize their features and provide expertise on scalability, high availability, security, performance and maintainability
  • Guide and provide encouragement to team members, including communicating team goals and creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
  • Oversee team member work for quality and guideline compliance
  • Resolve conflicts and remove impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding via coaching
  • Collaborate with product owners and technical leads to enable an effective delivery process through our staging environments
     

About the Requirements

  • Solid experience working as an Operations Manager with proven success in operating mission critical enterprise software services
  • Professional with experience leading large complex enterprise-wide infrastructure projects/programs with multiple interfaces and/or 3rd parties
  • You have excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask
  • You are self-driven and take on responsibility; when issues arise, you are able to proactively roll up your sleeves, pull people together and tackle them
  • You have excellent communication, mentoring and leadership skills and have the ability to communicate details and collaborate effectively
  • You have proven work experience as a leader supervising, managing and motivating a team
  • You have excellent facilitation and information reporting skills
  • Cloud experience (Azure preferrable, or AWS/GCP etc.)
  • Infrastructure Experience: Monitoring, DNS, DHCP, Backups, and Disaster Recovery
  • Experience with alerting/monitoring cloud software with tools like Datadog, ServiceNow, PagerDuty
  • Knowledge of Jira or similar would be an advantage
  • You have an ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment
  • You have experience with scrum and other Agile development methodologies
