About the position

 

The Contract Manager (“CM”) is responsible for establishing and maintaining Avaya’s contractual relationship with the US Federal Government. As an integral member of the Avaya account team, the CM will take the lead in all Federal Government contract situations by:  (1) analyzing the potential risks to Avaya in requests for proposals and solicitations as both a prime and subcontractor respondent; (2) identifying the business process owners of any non-standard activities and seeking authorization of proposed variations; (3) assessing viability of customer requested contract changes; (4) developing alternative responses which manage the financial and business risks to Avaya while facilitating sales; and (5) communicating and supporting Avaya corporate policy with the account team and customer through strict adherence to the Avaya Schedule of Authorizations  #LI-NA1

About the responsibilities

The CM drafts and manages the approval of responses to government requests for non-standard contractual terms and RFP responses. Post award activities and ongoing contract administration are the responsibility of the CM.  Complete knowledge of, and extensive experience working with, the FAR and DFAR are required. Strong negotiation skills for direct (Federal Government) and indirect (Prime Contractors/Partners) opportunities, management and customer relationship skills are essential to resolve contractual issues in satisfaction of customer demands while protecting Avaya from undue financial exposure.  CM must perform in a manner that assists in the sales effort with government clients and prime contractors. The CM must develop and maintain positive working relationships with Avaya corporate counsel, offer management, technical and business and sales operations to effectively negotiate responses that are consistent with and meet the demands of the competitive environment in which Avaya is a major player.

About the requirement

 

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree.   MBA, Paralegal or Law degree is a plus.  The CM must be a US citizen and have at least 5+ years extensive prime/subcontract experience in administering full life cycle (cradle-to-grave) Federal Government contracts, preferably in the IT field.  The CM must also possess excellent written, verbal and organizational skills; strong negotiation skills; interpersonal  skills, current knowledge of FAR/DFAR regulations; detail-oriented; and an  independent worker.  Experience with MS Office is desired.  Existing security clearance is a plus.
