About The Opportunity

 

Product management manages a specific product/portfolio from conception to end-of-life, running their area of responsibility like a business. Owns accountability for the financial success of a product. Acts as the voice of the customer, engaging with external customers and translating their needs into financially viable solutions. Applies a balance of technical and business/market expertise to create products that address customer needs, complement the company's product/solution portfolio and contribute to the company’s financial success. During major transitions, such as a launch or withdrawal, will plan and execute the transition to put the competition on the defensive and eliminate revenue risk for the company. Builds connections across functions with internal stakeholders, such as engineering, program management, marketing, go-to-market, services, sales, learning and operations so that the product is absorbed quickly by the market and is a success overall. Acts as a technical advisor for a specific product. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Senior leadership may assign work and resolve problems. Work is performed with minimal direction and reviewed by senior leadership. Provides solutions to a diverse range of complex problems. 

We are looking for a director level product management leader who has intimate US Government UC and CC Cloud ecosystems knowledge along with international government experience.
To be successful in the role the candidate needs to be a self-starter filling in white space around the formal process driving the business forward.

 

ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES     


• Be the go-to for the product/portfolio for all aspects including ordering, technical roadmap, business opportunities and growth
• Communicate with design, product managers, customers to ensure alignment of the business across the portfolio
• Identify strategic opportunities to position the business for success
• Move the business into the future accelerating opportunity’s through to sales
• As Director of Government business for Product Management, you will be responsible for setting the product vision and strategy.
• Listening to the customer voice and advocating this into the solution
• Product Management is a critical role in the organization setting direction of the business and influencing the future
• Overseeing development team through delivery of objectives
• Ensuring extended teams are aligned and delivering into the vision including marketing, sales, customer success, support and partners

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

• Soft skills required to be successful in the role and in Avaya, in line with our five key cultural principles of trust, empowerment, teamwork, simplicity and accountability
• US government security and market knowledge is a key objective in this role along with ability to obtain US Government security clearances if required
• Understanding of the JITC security requirements for both premise and cloud-based UC/CC offers including IL5, IL2 moderate security levels
• Technical, regulatory, and purchasing process knowledge across municipal, state and federal levels of United States and global government requirements for cloud UC/CC solutions
• Technical confidence 
• Influencing teams with vision for success
• Researching market to ensure a clear direction of the solutions
• In addition to solid communication skills, candidates must also possess excellent interpersonal skills to effectively influence and lead the people they work with. From customers      to stakeholders to team members, product managers are regularly trying to get others on board with their product vision. Good interpersonal skills for product managers to have      include presentation, emotional intelligence, active listening, collaboration and negotiating skills
• Candidates need to objectively enforce prioritization to successfully complete tasks and meet goals and deadlines. Good prioritization skills ensure that all team members are always working on what's most important at the time and keep the project moving along smoothly and in the timeline requirements.

Compensation

 

The pay range for this opportunity is from $161,100 to $217,500 + performance-related bonus + benefits
This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive an annual bonus that aligns with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and location.
