Directs activities related to the procurement of materials, parts, components, and equipment. Directs the activities of buyers and expediters to accomplish company objectives. Reviews and approves purchases up to a specified dollar amount. May negotiate major contracts involving large dollar amounts. Develops policies and procedures for the operation of procurement activities. Monitors the cost, schedule and performance aspects of major subcontracts. Coordinates purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing departments to maintain inventories at planned levels. May assist with the establishment and maintenance of the production control system. Participates with senior management to establish corporate strategic plans and objectives. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures effective achievement of operationÂs objectives. Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several department managers within the company having overall responsibility for planning, budgeting, implementing and maintaining costs, methods, and employees. Develops strategic business plans and goals for a large functional unit(s). Work is performed without appreciable direction. Identifies complex business needs and develops cutting edge solutions that require full integration of the company's strategies.

The position
Avaya’s Global Sourcing Organization is seeking a Director for Corporate Services Procurement. The individual must be capable of interacting with the Senior and Executive Management to support a broad category of goods and services spend used in the day-to-day operation of the business. The role has global responsibility for the full cycle of sourcing and supplier management for the categories in scope. The successful candidate will have accountability for management of more than $300M in services related spend managed by five global category managers. Spend covers such categories as IT Hardware, Travel, Administrative Supplies, Fleet, Real Estate support services, and Contract Labor. This individual will also have responsibility for procurement tools and procedures supported by a team of approximately twenty-five on-shore and off-shore resources.
Responsibilties
Ability to assess Avaya’s current spend landscape, develop a business management system and action plans that deliver quantifiable cost management benefits
Establishes procurement practices to ensure cost, quality and delivery performance are met by suppliers
Creates and drive processes to monitor and improve supplier performance and ensure business engagements are consistent with business needs
Directly negotiates, or supports team members in the negotiation of global agreements for a variety of services; reviews and amend existing agreements; manages contract life cycle
Monitors the legal landscape to ensure contract terms and conditions stay current with changing business conditions and minimize risk exposure to Avaya
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to meet business goals and objectives
Responsible for scoping, design, construction, implementation, and ongoing management of global procurement tools and processes (Coupa, Concur, SAP, BIQ, etc)
Meets with all levels of senior management to gain project support, funding, and strategic direction
Ensure compliance with Avaya policies, procedures and directives including adherence to contract terms and approval processes
Experience
Extensive knowledge of commercial contract terms and conditions and related contracting process
Involvement in the development of SLA’s, SOW’s and defined deliverable agreements
Experience operating in a global business environment, managing teams and suppliers in multiple geographies
Strong understanding of BPO practices and providers
Extensive Procure-to-Pay (P2P) management, preferably including implementation and ongoing management
Skills
- Proven cost management expertise
- Demonstratable knowledge of sourcing processes (RFx, eProcurement, TCO assessment)
- Strong contract negotiation skills
- Ability to influence cross-functional resources to meet common goals
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills especially capable of interacting with and presenting to senior management
- Strong analytical skills, including financial analysis
- Ability to identify and address complex business needs and recommends solutions to complex problems
- Full time position that involves management of diverse workforce across multiple time-zones. May involve some travel when conditions allow.
