Short Description

This position owns the strategy, development, deployment and implementation of the Avaya Academy programs (Sales, R&D and select Partners).

The role drives the growth and development of core industry, solution and sales skills expertise to facilitate the acquisition of qualified leads, improve ramp time, improve lead conversion, retain existing accounts, improve win rates and drive sales revenue. Including support for the expansion of the Avaya Academy to incorporate a program specifically designed for R&D.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of sales (and R&D) new hire programs, including alignment into corporate strategy, needs definition, content design and build, program execution, re-enforcement, ROI, budget, resources and timing.
    • Partner and build meaningful, consultative relationships with key individuals and teams throughout Avaya – including functional solution leadership teams, product BUs, solution marketing, and Channel Sales leads as applicable.
  • Design and develop training curricula and enablement content, leveraging advice from internal instructional designers and SMEs as appropriate.
  • Engage with global sales and channel enablement leads, Avaya and channel sales teams, field marketing, communications teams and R&D to maximize the reach and effectiveness of program delivery to the Avaya field, the channel and R&D.
  • Operate as an enablement SME, proactively providing advice and support to other teams.
  • Leverage a range of tools and learning approaches to ensure programs maximize reach and effectiveness while remaining cost-effective.
  • Engage and manage external vendors as appropriate.
  • Lead and/or facilitate field and channel sales training activities related to assigned program, as required.
  • Define, track and report on key metrics and measurable outcomes that show enablement activity, productivity improvements and program effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Strong sales background with prior sales experience and deep familiarity with sales organizations.
  • Energetic, self-motivated and thorough, with ability to motivate others and foster teamwork.
  • Experience developing and implementing focused training and readiness programs.
  • Exceptional written/oral communications and excellent presentation skills across various media; creative storyteller with the ability to communicate in a concise and compelling way; able to deliver high impact presentations.
  • Ability to develop engaging content.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and comfortable working in an extremely fast-paced/ entrepreneurial setting.
  • Team player with demonstrated ability working in a cross-functional, matrix-oriented, multinational environment.
  • Not intimidated by technical interaction; must enjoy problem solving and be unafraid of technical solutions.
  • Able to tailor training delivery to address cultural sensitivities in global audiences.
  • Possesses an optimistic attitude, conceptual thinking and creative attitude.
  • Experienced at building rapport and establishing effective relationships through positive communication, honesty and trust.
  • Exhibits integrity though fair and ethical behavior toward others and a demonstrated sense of corporate responsibility and commitment.
  • Demonstrates good business judgment when making decisions and always considers the relevance/impact of each decision on the business.
  • Proficient in MS Office and other applications; experience with Brainshark and Salesforce ideal.
  • Able to perform customary physical duties and meet appropriate social expectations of a professional office environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (<10%) across the US and internationally.    

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred), preferably in education, organizational development or a related field, or relevant industry experience.

    Other Qualifications:  10+ years related experience

  • Prior sales experience preferred
