About the Innovation Incubator

Avaya is a Communications Market Leader with Global Reach. Our Budapest AI centre will be a core centre of excellence, where we will see the development from A to Z of innovative AI solutions for contact centres and unified communications using the latest technologies. We will also expand to mobility and identity solutions, using such technologies as distributed ledgers (the foundation of blockchain and Ethereum) and quantum safe security.


Our Budapest centre will work in close cooperation with our customers, local universities and other Avaya teams including R&D and Sales. About the Opportunity

Part of the Innovation Incubator leadership team, the main mission will be to develop a leading edge Artificial Intelligence center of expertise applied to contact centers and unified communications as well as helping to shape and drive strategic and execution plans around AI.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Drive innovation as part of the design and development activity consistent with the overall AI strategy
  • Setup the center in the location that Avaya will have selected which would include leading the resource management and site strategy for AI.
  • Develop an initial roadmap in collaboration with the Innovation leadership team
  • Be the evangelist for Avaya AI locally, develop university relations and promote the company image to potential candidates
  • Work closely with product management and product marketing to plan for future product release requirements and to ensure promotion of new features and product value
  • Work closely with other functions to ensure solutions are successful in the market
  • Provide leadership, maintaining visibility and accessibility, building relationships and promoting communication with team through regular team meetings and one-on-one sessions and encouraging an open exchange of ideas and information

About You

Critical required skills include:


  • Knowledge of AI algorithms and data management
  • Development of applications using AI, such as classification, natural language understanding, scoring, etc
  • Provide strategic direction and motivational leadership for small to medium sized teams in a cross-functional, cross-location complex global organization.
  • Track record of delivering applications or technologies that are in production with large enterprise customers
  • A proven ability to manage evolutionary change
  • Balance role of strategist with urgency while managing the delivery of results in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional skills working with senior executives during problem resolution and in pre-sales activities to instill a sense of corporate commitment and trust
  • A aggressive focus on excellence as displayed by:  proven track record of hiring, developing and deploying top talent at all levels; an  understanding of business strategy and evidence of executing a product program to deliver business objectives in a fast-paced environment




  • Preferably PhD in computer science / AI
  • People management experience at director level is critical
  • Experience: 10 years minimum in development of large scale applications and AI
  • Ability to travel internationally
