About Opportunity
The IT Operations Analyst III – Senior Software License Manager is responsible for leading the organization’s software asset management (SAM) and licensing compliance initiatives across enterprise platforms. This role ensures that all software assets are effectively tracked, optimized, and compliant with vendor licensing agreements while supporting operational efficiency and cost optimization. The position requires strong expertise in enterprise software licensing models, vendor contract interpretation, and governance of software assets across cloud and on-premise environments.
As a senior member of the IT Operations team, the role will develop and maintain software license governance frameworks, establish asset lifecycle management processes, and partner with procurement, finance, security, and engineering teams to ensure accurate license usage and cost optimization. The Senior Software License Manager will also play a key role in preparing for vendor audits, managing license renewals, and identifying opportunities for license consolidation and cost reduction.
This role requires strong analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of software licensing models (such as ServiceNow, Coupa, Google, Microsoft, and SaaS platforms), and the ability to translate licensing data into actionable insights for IT leadership and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the enterprise Software Asset Management (SAM) lifecycle, including license procurement, allocation, tracking, and renewal management.
- Monitor and maintain software license compliance with vendor agreements and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct license utilization analysis to optimize software investments and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare for and support vendor software audits, ensuring accurate entitlement records and usage reporting.
- Maintain and enhance software asset inventory systems and license management tools.
- Develop governance processes and reporting dashboards to provide visibility into license usage, compliance, and spend.
- Partner with IT Infrastructure, Cloud, and Engineering teams to track software deployment and usage.
- Work closely with Procurement and Vendor Management teams for software purchasing, renewals, and contract negotiations.
- Collaborate with Finance to manage software budgets, cost forecasting, and financial reporting related to licensing.
- Support Information Security and Compliance teams in ensuring software usage aligns with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Engage with business units and application owners to optimize license allocation and usage.
What we are looking for -
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
- 6 to 9+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Operations, or Software Licensing Management.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise licensing models, including Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Adobe, VMware, and major SaaS platforms.
- Experience with SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM, Flexera, Snow Software, or similar asset management platforms.
- Proven experience managing software vendor audits and license compliance initiatives.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Familiarity with cloud licensing models (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid infrastructure environments is preferred.
