About The Opportunity

Job Summary

 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator (Applications Analyst III) to manage, maintain, and optimize our enterprise server environments. You will be responsible for our diverse infrastructure spanning Red Hat Linux, Solaris, HP-UX systems. This role requires deep expertise in Unix/Linux administration, particularly with legacy and enterprise systems. If you excel at performance tuning, system hardening, infrastructure automation, and can troubleshoot complex technical issues independently, we encourage you to apply.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Administer and support Unix and Linux environments including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Solaris (with Branded Zones), and HP-UX systems.
  • Design, implement, and optimize Solaris zones architecture for resource isolation and management.
  • Perform server performance monitoring, troubleshooting, tuning, and capacity planning across all Unix/Linux platforms.
  • Manage system patching, kernel updates, security hardening, and compliance across heterogeneous environments.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, and Ansible for repetitive tasks and infrastructure-as-code initiatives.
  • Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions (NetBackup, Veeam, or equivalent).
  • Provide Level 3 technical support for critical infrastructure issues and escalations from L1/L2 teams.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, network, database, and application teams to ensure system stability, security, and uptime.
  • Document configurations, maintain runbooks, and create standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Mentor junior team members (L1/L2 support) on best practices and technical skills.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on system incidents and implement preventive measures.

About The Requirement

Operating Systems & Platforms

 

  • Operating Systems: Advanced administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6, 7, 8, 9), HP-UX, and Solaris with expertise in kernel configuration, patching, performance tuning, and Branded Zones management.
  • Hardware & Storage Infrastructure: Proficiency managing Sun SPARC servers, HP RISC-based hardware, HP and Sun storage solutions (EVA, 3PAR), LVM, volume management, and RAID configuration.
  • System Services & Networking: Configuration and administration of DNS, NTP, DHCP, LDAP/NIS, and advanced network troubleshooting across heterogeneous environments.
  • Security & Compliance: Security patching, vulnerability management, system hardening, CIS benchmark compliance, and implementation of security best practices.
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Performance analysis, system tuning, capacity planning, log analysis, and KPI tracking using monitoring tools.
  • Scripting & Automation: Advanced proficiency in Bash and Korn Shell scripting, Ansible automation framework, and infrastructure-as-code practices for operational efficiency.
  • Technical Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills, independent troubleshooting of complex infrastructure issues, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive solutions.
  • Leadership & Communication: Effective technical documentation, mentoring capabilities, clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and incident response management.
  • Professional Attributes: On-call availability, attention to detail, reliability, adaptability to emerging technologies, and commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Strong experience in HP-UX administration and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience with HP-UX server management, patching, and performance tuning
  • Knowledge of HPUX LVM, filesystem management, SAN storage, and multipathing
  • Experience in system monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery operations
  • Familiarity with clustering technologies such as Serviceguard/MC Serviceguard
  • Strong experience in Oracle Solaris administration and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience with Solaris Zones, LDOMs, filesystem management, and patching
  • Knowledge of ZFS, SAN storage, multipathing, and volume management
  • Experience in performance tuning, server monitoring, and capacity planning

 

Experience

 

  • 5 to 9 years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux systems administration with proven L3/Senior-level expertise in managing complex, critical infrastructure environments independently.
  • Minimum 3+ years of dedicated experience with HP-UX (HPUX) operating system administration, including kernel configuration, patching, and performance optimization.
  • Minimum 3+ years of dedicated experience with Solaris administration, including Branded Zones (BZ) creation, management, migration, and resource allocation.
  • Minimum 3+ years of dedicated experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration across versions 6, 7, 8, and 9.
  • Strong background in troubleshooting critical production incidents, performing root cause analysis, and implementing preventive measures across Unix/Linux platforms.
